Inclusive religious practice
Since the start, Abloom has stated that taboos, delusions and superstitious theories
affect people living with disabilities. Particularly in some minority communities, there can be a strong belief that disability is a divine punishment. Join Abloom on our journey towards a more inclusive religious community. Our e-learning course has been developed for all faiths and
philosophical beliefs to ensure that everyone, regardless of disability, can participate in their
religious practice.
Objective: Promote inclusion and respect in line with the CRPD.
Target group: Everyone within faith and life communities, politicians, and professionals.
Outcome: Increased inclusion and knowledge of human rights.

Project “Inclusive religious practice” by Abloom
Objective: Ensure that everyone, regardless of disability and faith, can participate in their religious practice in line with the CRPD (convention on the Rights of persons with disabilities).
Background: Many people with disabilities experience discrimination in faith and belief communities. We are working to change this in line with the CRPD.
Measures: E-learning course “A whole community.” Support for vulnerable groups. The wide availability of information. Skills development for managers.
Target groups: Faith and belief communities, applicants for religious positions, employees,
managers, and those with disabilities.
Results: Increased inclusion in religious practice and respect for human rights.
Participate in our E-learning course: Inclusive religious practice.
The joint declaration and CRPD are important tools.
The Joint Declaration that disability is not a divine punishment is a well-developed tool. In
our view, this declaration helps to create more understanding, build bridges, and increase knowledge about disabilities. Read more about this via our information, which is available in various formats on Abloom’s channels. A further goal is to actively promote the project “The right to participate in
inclusive religious practice.” Based on this tool, we will actively promote our next project, which is about achieving a breakthrough for “Inclusive religious practice”. Our goal is that everyone – as far as
possible – should be able to worship their God in their faith community. This applies to Christianity, Islam, Judaism and other faiths. Many people with disabilities are systematically discriminated against from taking part in religious services in many faith and belief communities. The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) emphasises that all persons – regardless of disability – have the right to participate in society on an equal basis with others. This also applies to participation in cultural life, leisure activities and sports (Article 30). CRPD The CRPD is unknown to many faith and belief communities, with a particular focus on minority language communities (mosques, churches, temples, etc.) Abloom continues the fight against the ‘idea of divine punishment’.
